The principle

The resin used for the modeling of false nails consists of an acrylic powder combined with a shaping liquid. The two elements then form a modeling paste which is placed on the natural nails. Its malleable texture makes it easy to create the desired nail shape with the use of a brush. The resin dries and hardens in the open air.

Benefits

This technique of modeling false nails makes it possible to make extensions (stencils or capsules), to sculpt very solid nails and to apply decorations in three dimensions.

Disadvantages

This false nail technique is used less and less in favor of gel false nails. Although they are very solid, resin false nails are less flexible and shiny than gel false nails. They can crumble and break on impact and give a less natural look than gel false nails.

Resin or acrylic false nails can also yellow natural nails due to their more aggressive components.

Duration

The average duration of resin or acrylic false nails is 3 weeks. Subsequently, a filling is necessary to maintain them and keep them longer.

For who ?

Resin false nails are perfect for damaged nails. This technique is therefore to be preferred for reshaping devitalized, bitten and short nails. Extensions with a stencil or with capsules make it possible to lengthen the size of the nails in addition to reshaping them (cf column extensions).

The principle

This is the preferred technique of beauticians. The idea is to deposit a gel on the nails which is stretched over the length of the nails to be molded into the desired shape. The gel is then dried under a UV lamp.

Note  : if the gel can be applied directly to relatively long natural nails, it can also be applied to short nails by making extensions with the help of capsules or a stencil (see extensions column) which will allow to lengthen the nails.

Benefits

The gel false nails offer an ultra natural result and give a clean, shiny and smooth look. Just like resin nails, it is possible to make many decorations on gel nails (nail art, different colors of varnish , semi-permanent varnish, etc.)

Disadvantages

The application of false nails in gel requires to be equipped with a UV lamp. In the same way, it is advisable to go to an institute or call a beautician at home to remove gel false nails because their strong adhesion requires the use of a nail polisher.

Duration

Gel false nails last an average of 3 to 4 weeks before you do a few touch-ups during a fill-in session .

For who ?

Gel false nails are suitable for all types of nails, whether natural or with artificial capsules. It is an ideal method to afford the nails of the color and shape of your choice!

The principle

Capsule false nails are no more and no less plastic false nails that are stuck on natural nails. Available in shops in different shapes (round, square, pointed, neutral or colored), ready-to-use capsules are often used for one-off events.

Benefits

Capsule false nails are perfect for those on a budget. It is also an accessible technique since you can easily apply them yourself. They also have the advantage of being easily removed.

Disadvantages

Unlike resin or gel false nails which perfectly match the shape of natural nails, capsule false nails do not offer an ultra clean result. They are less resistant and therefore last a shorter time. Repeated poses of capsule false nails can also damage natural nails.

Duration

Ready-to-use capsule false nails only last a few days.

It’s the ideal solution for people who want beautiful nails for an occasion (wedding, evening, etc.) and who don’t have time to do a full manicure and go to a salon.
